Software Engineer III/Senior, AI Gateway
San Francisco, CAngrok is hiring a Senior Software Engineer or Software Engineer III for its AI Gateway team, which builds systems to identify, control, and understand AI traffic passing through the ngrok platform. You'll own AI-specific gateway components including real-time traffic classification, policy enforcement (rate limits and usage caps), token consumption tracking, and observable signals for what was allowed, blocked, or consumed—all running directly on live customer traffic. Required experience includes comfort with statically typed compiled languages like Go, Rust, C++, or Java (Go preferred), familiarity with AI/LLMs and their edge cases, and thoughtful API design; extra credit for work on AI platforms, API gateways, quota/billing systems, or observability tools.
