Paraform, an AI-powered recruiting marketplace, is hiring a Backend Engineer to own the core systems powering its platform serving companies like Cursor, Palantir, and Shopify. You'll optimize databases and services, build integrations across recruiter and hiring manager workflows, manage infrastructure and CI/CD, strengthen auth and security, and develop internal AI tooling—essentially architecting the foundation that everything else depends on. The role requires deep backend expertise with production databases and infrastructure, pragmatic judgment about technical tradeoffs, and operational mindedness with on-call experience; high ownership and the ability to identify and fix systemic problems independently are essential. Paraform has $80M ARR with only 15 engineers, meaning every hire is critical to the business direction, and the company is well-funded by top-tier investors (Felicis, DST Global, YouTube/Instacart founders) after 8×ing revenue last year. This is a foundational backend role with significant autonomy to shape what the product can do and how the team ships—expect to own the full backend surface area including performance optimization, service architecture, integrations, and infrastructure decisions.
