Verkada is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Search team, which owns the AI-powered search and computer vision backend that enables fast investigation across billions of camera frames using face recognition, license plate detection, and emerging LLM/VLM capabilities. You'll set technical direction for the team's evolution toward agentic, multi-modal search experiences while managing a portfolio of production services (APIs, inference pipelines, vector databases) and scaling a team of backend, frontend, and ML engineers. The role requires 7+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years managing backend or ML teams, plus a track record leading 5+ engineers and hands-on expertise in at least one of: distributed systems, ML infrastructure, or production ML systems.
