Waabi, an AI company pioneering Physical AI for autonomous transportation, is hiring a Distillation Lead to own model compression strategy across their AI stack spanning perception, world models, and planning. The role sits in the Software – Autonomy & Algorithms group and involves designing and scaling distillation pipelines (knowledge distillation, quantization, pruning, low-rank factorization, speculative decoding) while collaborating with ML Platform, Infrastructure, Onboard Autonomy, and Simulation teams to deploy compressed models meeting real-time and high-throughput requirements. You'll need deep hands-on experience with distillation, quantization, and pruning techniques in production; a Bachelor's or Master's in ML/Computer Vision/Robotics (or equivalent); expert Python and PyTorch/JAX skills; and a proven track record of technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration. The position is hybrid across Waabi's offices in Toronto, San Francisco, Dallas, and Pittsburgh, with remote flexibility within US and Canada. This is a senior technical role requiring both cutting-edge research contributions and mentorship of researchers and engineers in the model efficiency space.
