Member of Technical Staff on xAI's X Search team, responsible for building and operating the core search engine powering discovery on X. You'll own the full end-to-end search stack—from real-time retrieval and indexing to ranking and user-facing experience—with the goal of creating the internet's most relevant and intelligent search by combining information retrieval systems with Grok's reasoning capabilities. Key responsibilities include building scalable search and retrieval algorithms, operating large-scale search infrastructure, training ML ranking models, and integrating Grok into search systems. Required experience includes production work with Python, Go, or Rust; vector databases or search indices; large-scale search systems; and production ML systems, plus the ability to own problems end-to-end and move quickly amid shifting priorities. xAI offers $180K–$440K base salary plus equity, comprehensive benefits, and operates with a flat structure where all employees contribute directly to the mission.
