Job Summary
The Controls & Electrical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, improving, and supporting electrical, controls, CNC, PLC, and automation systems within a manufacturing environment. The role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting manufacturing operations through advanced electrical and automation expertise. The position serves as a technical resource, providing leadership and guidance to maintenance teams while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)- Comply with all HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify, report, and mitigate electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic safety hazards.
- Promote a strong safety culture through the use of PPE, safety procedures, and risk assessments.
- Support safe operation of CNC machines, automated systems, rotating equipment, and industrial machinery.
- Participate in safety training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of electrical and automation systems.
- Support CNC machines, special purpose machines (SPMs), robots, conveyors, nut runners, and automated material handling systems.
- Conduct panel-level fault finding, wiring modifications, component replacement, and electrical diagnostics.
- Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders using maintenance management systems such as MAXIMO.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoot and maintain PLC, HMI, CNC, SCADA, and industrial automation systems.
- Program and support PLC platforms including Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Omron, and Fanuc systems.
- Maintain CNC controls including Fanuc (0i/30i Series), Siemens (828D/840D), and Bosch Rexroth (IndraDrive, MTX).
- Support industrial communication networks including Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, and related protocols.
- Troubleshoot servo drives, spindle drives, axis control systems, encoders, and motion control applications.
- Support integration of machines with production monitoring systems, MES, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
- Debug complex automation and machine control issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Lead machine uptime improvement initiatives and support MTTR/MTBF reduction programs.
- Drive TPM, predictive maintenance, and reliability improvement activities.
- Improve machine accuracy, process capability, cycle time, and operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through repair, reuse, localization, and optimization of spare parts.
- Support energy reduction, waste elimination, and maintenance cost optimization projects.
- Implement real-time monitoring, OEE improvement, and digital manufacturing initiatives.
- Manage spare parts planning and inventory to ensure equipment availability while optimizing costs.
- Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and contractors for specialized maintenance and technical support activities.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Support maintenance scheduling around production requirements to minimize operational disruptions.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues.
- Act as a technical mentor and resource for less experienced team members.
- Conduct technical training and facilitate knowledge sharing within the organization.
- Communicate technical issues, corrective actions, and improvement opportunities effectively to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Diploma, Technical Certification, High School Diploma, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in PLC Programming, CNC Systems, Industrial Automation, or Electrical Maintenance are preferred.
- Licensing may be required for compliance with export controls or applicable regulations.

Experience
- Minimum 6–8 years of experience in Electrical Maintenance, CNC Maintenance, Industrial Automation, Controls Engineering, or Manufacturing Maintenance environments.
- Hands-on experience supporting CNC machining centers, turning centers, grinding machines, and automated production equipment.
- Proven experience troubleshooting CNC controls, PLC systems, industrial automation systems, and machine tool equipment.
- Experience working with Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Omron, and Bosch Rexroth control platforms.
- Exposure to TPM, predictive maintenance, reliability improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing machine uptime, maintenance planning, and automation system enhancements in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lead technical problem-solving efforts and support cross-functional improvement projects.
