About the Role
The Billing Specialist Supervisor role is an integral part of Latham’s Revenue Operations team. This role will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Revenue Operations team in their assigned office and for ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures of the firm, while advising the department regarding billing procedures and policies and serving as the primary point of contact for billing-related questions or concerns. This role will be located in our Washington D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Other key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with billing attorneys, secretarial staff, and clients to review, prepare, finalize, and send invoices and resolve any problems encountered by the Revenue Operations staff
- Monitoring the billing and collection cycles, following up on the same with the billing attorneys, billing staff and clients, ensuring that the client-matters’ billing parameters (paying entity, rates, tax implications) are properly set up
- Ensuring departmental goals and objectives are met by overseeing accurate and timely completion of assignments, inquiries, and recurring activities, including quarterly inventory campaigns, year-end collections and inventory management, e‑billing coordination, and other high‑priority, time‑sensitive tasks
- Promoting the “Gold Standard” process for inventory: managing billing completion percentages to ensure timely billing of inventory, monitoring reports related to the same, ensuring monthly inventory meetings take place with billing attorneys, and overseeing the delivery of collections support and accounts receivable follow up
- Participating in routine calls and conferences with partners and management on financial inventory
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

- Possess an ability to take initiative and work both independently and lead teams with a customer-service focus
- Exhibit organizational skills to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines and supervise the work of others to ensure compliance and accuracy, while using independent judgment for decision-making
And have:
- A minimum of three (3) years of billing experience including billing processes and practices in an international law firm or professional services organization
- A minimum of five (5) years of typical years of cumulative experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related field
