Accountabilities:

    The Senior Finance Operation Specialist will support financial operations by managing project workflows, compliance activities, reporting processes, and operational improvements. This role requires strong organizational skills, financial understanding, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage critical tasks.

    • Coordinate financial application submissions and support financing processes from initial stages through completion.
    • Assist with equity, construction, and permanent loan closing activities.
    • Manage Know Your Customer (KYC), due diligence requirements, and secure document submissions.
    • Track project milestones, deadlines, and operational requirements across multiple active initiatives.
    • Monitor compliance activities, including cost certification, IRS Form 8609 processes, and ongoing financing obligations.
    • Maintain financing calendars, project trackers, documentation repositories, and data rooms.
    • Build, maintain, and improve Excel-based trackers, reports, dashboards, and workflow tools.
    • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recurring finance processes.
    • Maintain financial compliance checklists and ensure important deadlines are consistently achieved.
    • Coordinate with internal teams, investors, lenders, and external stakeholders to support smooth project execution.
    • Review financial and legal documentation, summarize key information, and convert requirements into actionable tasks.
    • Collect, organize, and analyze financial and operational performance data.
    • Support budgeting activities, financial reporting, analysis, and performance monitoring.
    • Take ownership of assigned workflows and deliver accurate outcomes independently.
    • Identify opportunities to improve finance systems, processes, and operational efficiency.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is a finance professional with experience in financial operations, reporting, documentation, and process improvement. They should be highly organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.

      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is strongly preferred.
      • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate Finance, or a similar finance operations role.
      • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, complex spreadsheets, and large datasets.
      • Ability to successfully complete an Excel-based assessment during the recruitment process.
      • Strong task management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and documentation requirements.
      • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
      • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
      • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide updates, ask questions, and proactively raise concerns.
      • Experience creating reports, trackers, operational documentation, and process improvements.
      • Ability to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
      • Experience interpreting financial and legal documentation.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
      • Familiarity with financial and operational tools such as Yardi, QuickBooks, Smartsheet, or Monday.com is a plus.
      • Experience using AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude is desirable.
      • Experience in affordable housing, LIHTC, or real estate development is beneficial but not required.
      • Proactive mindset with strong motivation to continuously learn, improve, and grow professionally.
      • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
