Aerospace Product System Safety Engineer

As a Product System Safety Engineer here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of aerospace products throughout their lifecycle. You will apply your expertise in system safety engineering to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement mitigation strategies that meet stringent aerospace safety standards.

You will report directly to our engineering leadership and you’ll work out of our Clearwater, FL location on a hybrid work schedule.

New hires are expected to be on-site 100% for the first 90 days of employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct safety assessments and risk analyses for aerospace systems, including aircraft, spacecraft, and related subsystems.
  • Develop and maintain Safety Management Plans and System Safety Program Plans.
  • Identify, define, and document safety requirements and safety-critical systems.
  • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Safety Analysis Reports, System Safety Program Plans, and Hazard Analysis.
  • Collaborate with design, test, and operations teams to integrate safety considerations throughout the product development process.
  • Review engineering designs and technical documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety certification processes, including preparing and submitting documentation for regulatory agencies.
  • Lead safety reviews and presentations to stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of safety-related issues and recommendations.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to aerospace safety.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Sciences, or a related engineering field
  • 2+ years of experience working in aerospace using MIL-STD-882 safety standards

WE VALUE

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) experience
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace system safety standards such as ARP4761, ARP4754, and DO-178/254.
  • Proficiency in performing hazard analyses, fault tree analyses, and failure modes and effects analyses (FMEA/FMECA).
  • Experience with safety assessment tools and software used in aerospace system safety engineering.
  • Experience working in aerospace product certification and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex safety concepts effectively.
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as FAA, EASA, and their safety requirements.
