Penrose-St. Francis Health Services is a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs comprising Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and St Francis Hospital - Interquest. St. Francis Hospital opened in 2008 to keep pace with the growing needs of the Colorado Springs' community on the north side of the city. St. Francis Hospital features 340-beds and offers a modern Birth Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Cancer Center, Emergency Department, Level III Trauma Center, Imaging Services, Acute Inpatient Rehab, Surgical Services and Critical Care Unit. It also serves as southern Colorado's home base for the Flight For Life Colorado air medical transport service. The Milk Technician supports the organization's mission by providing patient-centered care through the safe preparation of infant formula and human milk for a level III NICU. Key responsibilities include:
- Interpreting technical physician orders and ensuring accurate dosing.
- Maintaining aseptic conditions in the preparation room and ensuring safe operation of equipment.
- Managing supply inventory, training new staff, and adhering to all policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
- Six months of healthcare experience in formula room or infant pediatric formula preparation preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required
- Candidates must demonstrate mathematical proficiency, organizational abilities, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Technical requirements include spreadsheet, word processing, and email knowledge.
- Completion of a formal technician training program is required within 12 weeks of hire.
