The Senior Analyst, Inventory Accounting is responsible for leading certain global inventory accounting & reporting practices, primarily related to Profit in Inventory (PII) and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). In addition, the role will drive process improvement initiatives in various inventory accounting/reporting sub-processes.

This position reports to the Senior Finance Manager-Inventory Accounting; is part of the Global Inventory Controllership Process team located in Budapest and will be an on-site role.

What you will do:

  • Support the monthly Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reconciliation between the GL and Cytiva's COGS BI tool; investigate item-level differences and escalate significant variances.
  • Apply standard work defined by the Global Inventory Controllership team and contribute to ongoing process improvement and automation projects.
  • Partner with peers in BU Finance teams, plant controllers and site teams across Europe, the US and Asia to gather data, clarify entries, and ensure accurate inventory valuation under US GAAP.
  • Support month-end close and compliance activities — account reconciliations, SOX testing evidence, and internal/external audit requests — as directed by the Senior Finance Manager.

Who you are:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business (Hungarian mérlegképes könyvelő qualification, ACCA part-qualification, or equivalent is a strong plus).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience (Bachelor's + 5, or Master's + 3), including at least 2 years in a multinational, SSC, or global business environment.
  • Functional expertise: Solid working knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close; exposure to inventory accounting, standard costing, PPV or COGS is preferred (full inventory expertise can be developed in role).
  • Analytical & tools: Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, SUMIFS, data cleansing) and comfort working with large data sets to identify trends and reconciling items.
  • English language: Confident written and spoken English for daily collaboration with global colleagues (this is a global role — English is the working language; Hungarian is welcome but not required for the work).

Nice to have (up to 3 preferred, not required)

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle or SAP ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Qlik Sense, Power BI or OneStream.
  • Exposure to process improvement (Kaizen, Lean, DBS) or finance automation.
