Accountabilities:
- Manage complex and high-exposure construction defect claims from initial investigation through resolution, ensuring accurate evaluation and timely handling.
- Review policy coverage, identify potential coverage issues, and prepare recommendations, reservation of rights, and denial documentation when required.
- Investigate claims by gathering statements, contracts, repair estimates, expert reports, photographs, correspondence, and other supporting documentation.
- Maintain detailed claim file documentation, including activity notes, evaluations, reserves, and written reports in accordance with established procedures.
- Apply legal liability principles and exercise settlement authority within assigned limits while identifying claims requiring escalation.
- Coordinate with defense counsel, independent adjusters, experts, insured parties, agents, and internal stakeholders to drive effective claim resolutions.
- Build strong relationships with customers, underwriting teams, service teams, and other partners through proactive communication and collaboration.
- Monitor claim exposure, recommend reserves, provide regular status updates, and discuss complex matters with leadership when needed.
- Ensure all claim handling activities align with applicable regulations, including Fair Claims Practices requirements.
- 5+ years of experience managing construction defect claims, with strong knowledge of claims investigation and resolution processes.
- 10+ years of litigation management experience preferred.
- College degree or equivalent professional claims management experience required.
- Active individual adjusting license in a designated home state, with willingness to obtain additional licenses as needed.
- Strong understanding of insurance coverage analysis, liability evaluation, claim documentation, and settlement practices.
- Experience working with defense counsel, experts, independent adjusters, insureds, and carriers.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage complex files independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other computer-based claims management tools.
- A collaborative mindset with strong professionalism, accountability, and commitment to delivering high-quality service.
- Annual salary range of $83,000 - $104,000 USD, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and relevant training.
