The Boeing Company is looking for a Deputy Chief Pilot - Flight Technical and Safety (FT&S) located in Seattle, WA

Provides and manages FT&S 737, 757/767, Flight Crew Training Manual and Safety Pilot employees providing technical consultation, aircrew instruction, technical documentation and support related to flight operations, flight safety and accident investigations.

This position interfaces with government/industry agencies around the world and with airlines operating all models of Boeing commercial aircraft. Flight Technical and Safety works closely with various departments within The Boeing Company to ensure our aircraft are operated safely and efficiently in a wide variety of operating environments.  FT&S is the customer interface for flight operations and includes representation on a variety of industry committees.  The group includes numerous former airline pilots with a great deal of operational experience with U.S. and international airlines.  Their combined experience offers a broad-based, global perspective of airline operations.  Our safety pilots are uniquely trained to lead our Flight Operations Support Program and represent Boeing during incident and accident investigations.  Many of our non-pilot team members have extensive military aircrew or general aviation experience.  

This position is primarily non-flying, but maintains qualification as a pilot on at least one model of Boeing aircraft and requires a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating or equivalent.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for executing projects, implementing policies and procedures and setting operational goals

  • Acquiring resources for projects, providing technical management and leading process improvements

  • Leading/mentoring team of direct reports

Boeing First-Line Leader Assessment: To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”

  • The position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

  • 737 Type Rating

  • 5+ years of experience in airplane accident investigation and/or training

  • Work experience in Flight Operations

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • International flight experience

  • 757/767 Type Rating
