Purchasing Manager
The Purchasing Manager will partner closely with branch leadership, operations, service teams, and key suppliers to optimize total cost, improve inventory performance, mitigate supply risk, and develop scalable strategies that support growth across the division. Success in this role means balancing service, cost, and operational readiness while building strong supplier relationships and delivering measurable value to the business.

Qualifications:
- Strong experience in procurement, supply chain management, and supplier relations.
- Extensive knowledge in Contract Management, RFQs, RFPs, and vendor negotiations.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and strong knowledge of Pumps, Tanks, and Filtration.
- Familiarity with inventory management practices, including lead times, sourcing, and reordering cycles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Distribution, Engineering, or a related field is required. A minimum of eight (8) years’ related purchasing experience and/or training is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the Rain for Rent procurement strategy to reduce operating costs, improve vendor performance, and align purchasing activity with corporate financial goals.
- Lead vendor negotiations for pricing, rebates, payment terms, service levels, warranties, and contract protections to deliver measurable cost savings.
- Leverage national account agreements to ensure division-wide compliance with preferred supplier programs and maximize negotiated corporate pricing.
- Identify opportunities to consolidate vendors across branches, departments, and operating units to reduce duplication, improve buying discipline, and strengthen supplier accountability.
- Use enterprise-wide purchasing volume and enterprise scale to negotiate better pricing, standardized terms, and improved service commitments.
- Analyze spend data, purchasing trends, vendor utilization, and category performance to identify savings opportunities and track procurement results.
- Partner with operations, finance, fleet, facilities, and branch leadership to understand purchasing needs, standardize requirements, and support business continuity.
- Manage supplier relationships, including vendor scorecards, performance reviews, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support contract management by reviewing supplier agreements, monitoring compliance, and coordinating with legal and corporate procurement when needed.
- Establish and enforce procurement policies, approval processes, preferred vendor usage, and purchasing controls across Rain for Rent.
- Evaluate alternative suppliers, products, and service models to improve quality, reduce total cost of ownership, and limit supply chain risk.
- Coordinate regional sourcing initiatives for high-spend categories such as equipment, parts, fleet services, facilities, fuel, logistics, supplies, and professional services.
- Prepare procurement savings reports, vendor performance updates, and executive summaries for divisional and corporate leadership.
- Train and support field teams on purchasing procedures, preferred vendor programs, cost-saving initiatives, and contract compliance expectations.
- Monitor market conditions, supplier pricing trends, inflationary pressures, and availability risks to proactively adjust sourcing strategies.
- Assist in implementing company policies and recommend improvements to purchasing operations, focusing on cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Create and execute purchasing strategies for various categories, ensuring best-in-class pricing, partnerships, and product additions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
