Product Family
The Commercial Lending & Sales Capabilities team owns the core credit and sales platforms that enable the delivery and servicing of Business Banking products. The team is accountable for translating business strategy into prioritized product roadmaps and ensuring platforms are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned to enterprise standards. Through strong product ownership and agile delivery, the team supports business growth, operational efficiency, and effective risk management across the Canadian Commercial Banking portfolio.
The Credit Solutions Product Group (PG) focuses on credit related data stores, credit decision engine, books of record, Equipment Finance, and ancillary services; and also supports the end-to-end credit process for business banking segments on the legacy credit platforms. The PG is looking for a Product Owner to lead the POD, on day-to-day support activities on credit applications, enhancement requests and audit activities. The PO will be required to support applications like Commercial World, Enterprise Commercial Datamart (ECD), BB Risk Analyst (BBRA), etc.
The team partners closely with business stakeholders, technology delivery, and control partners to deliver enhancements, and ensure solutions meet regulatory, risk, and performance expectations playing a key role in enabling consistent customer experiences, and scalable support for Canadian Business Banking growth.
Job Description
We are looking for a Product Owner to help support our Ops POD. As the Product Owner, your team will look to you to define, prioritize with the Business and ultimately approve what we release to production. Building our capabilities and supporting the existing platform will require you to work with multiple individuals/teams including control partners (e.g. legal, compliance, operational risk); engineering managers, developers, testers and product groups.
As a Product Owner, you will be expected to demonstrate:
POD Leadership
Lead all activities related to enhancements, currency updates and risk-mitigation work and work closely with the Engineering Manager to deliver on commitments.
Represent the business within the POD by connecting business and technology and ensuring successful delivery of all user stories.
Triage, prioritize, and drive resolution of production issues.
Working closely with the Technology Assets Owner (TAO), and multiple risk partners and governance partners to ensure all BAO accountabilities are met
Backlog, Planning & Execution
Create and maintain a value‑focused product backlog, continuously refining user stories and acceptance criteria.
Align backlog priorities with Product Group strategic direction.
Provide user story design, oversight, and approval of completed stories.
Participate in agile ceremonies and cross-Pod coordination.
Run & Operational Excellence
Own day‑to‑day run activities, ensuring operational processes, monitoring, and SLAs are met.
Champion permanent fixes for recurring incidents.
Maintain strong risk and control alignment.
Product Strategy & Platform Alignment
Support the roadmap for currency projects and Business requested enhancements for supported Malcodes.
Provide thought leadership on priority and business value related to committed work and work collaboratively to resolve risks and impediments to delivery.
Maintain awareness of vendor technology roadmaps.
Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
Provide thought leadership and/or industry knowledge for own area of expertise and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit
Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities
Present to peers/executives on a regular basis
Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
Participate in defining our PG roadmap
Maintain understanding of partner and vendor roadmaps, and understand how these technologies can be leveraged to bring business value
Job Requirements
Undergraduate degree or product management certificate and / or 2+ years relevant experience
Demonstrated experience building out on-line capabilities in a Product Owner capacity
Agile/Scaled Agile development experience is a definite asset
Superior impact and influence skills to effectively engage and manage all stakeholders and recommend creative and strategic solutions to successfully implement change.
Strategic mindset with the ability to understand implications of key decisions on policies, down-stream processes, etc.
Good judgment, understanding of what issues to escalate, what to resolve on your own, make suggestions for possible resolution.
Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technology stakeholders in both oral and written form
