What this job involves:
At JLL, we are collectively shaping a brighter way — and the Senior Director, Data Governance & Strategy is central to that work. This role sits at the intersection of enterprise data strategy, operational execution, and organizational leadership — accountable for enabling data governance at scale, leading the Data Stewardship and Data Modeling organizations, and embedding trusted, well-structured data into JLL's Enterprise Data Platform. You will define the common model for core entities, build and maintain the Data Entity Resolution Rulebook, and ensure governance frameworks can flex to address the complex, edge-case realities of JLL's diverse business lines. As the leader of Data Stewardship, you will position that team as a strategic value-add function — upskilling capabilities for an AI-driven future and elevating stewardship from a compliance function to a competitive advantage. As the leader of Data Modeling, you will accelerate the modernization of modeling activities, expand datasets under the common model, and drive the integration of that model into the Enterprise Data Platform. We choose to take the more inspiring, innovative, and optimistic path on our journey toward success — and this leader will be instrumental in making JLL's data a durable, enterprise-wide asset.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Define and maintain the common data model for core entities, serving as the authoritative standard for how key data assets are structured, related, and governed across the enterprise.
- Own the Data Entity Resolution Rulebook end-to-end — building, governing, and continuously refining the rules by which entities are identified, matched, deduplicated, and reconciled across systems and business lines – emphasis on company, property, people & transaction entities.
- Partner with business line stakeholders to problem-solve unique edge cases in entity resolution, ensuring governance frameworks are both principled and practical across JLL's diverse operating contexts.
- Lead and manage the Data Stewardship organization, setting strategic direction that positions the team as a value-add function — moving beyond compliance into proactive data quality, literacy, and AI-readiness initiatives.
- Drive an upskilling agenda within Data Stewardship, equipping the team with the capabilities needed to operate effectively in an AI-enabled data environment.
- Lead and manage the Data Modeling organization, overseeing the integration of the common model into the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) and modernizing modeling workflows and tooling.
- Accelerate the expansion of datasets under the common model, working with engineering, platform, and business teams to increase coverage and consistency at scale.
- Influence and align cross-functional senior leaders across technology, business, and product domains to drive adoption of governance standards and resolve competing priorities.
- Partner with senior technology, privacy, and compliance leaders to ensure governance strategies anticipate emerging regulatory requirements and evolving data risks.
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in data governance, data management, enterprise data strategy, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute enterprise-wide governance programs, including common data model definition, data classification frameworks, and stewardship operations.
- Proven experience owning or operating enterprise data platforms, with a strong understanding of data architecture, metadata management, and data quality principles.
- Hands-on experience developing or implementing entity resolution frameworks, master data management (MDM), or data reconciliation standards at scale.
- Experience leading data stewardship or data modeling teams, with a track record of elevating team capabilities and positioning the function for strategic impact.
- Track record of influencing senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders across multiple business domains, negotiating outcomes and driving governance adoption at scale.
- Experience translating data strategy into measurable business outcomes, including operational efficiency, risk reduction, or platform modernization.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex data concepts clearly and persuasively to executive audiences.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in commercial real estate, financial services, or other data-intensive industries with complex, multi-domain data environments.
- Familiarity with data governance platforms and tooling (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Purview) and enterprise data platforms at scale.
- Experience establishing governance frameworks for AI/ML data usage, including data lineage, bias mitigation, and responsible AI standards.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their intersection with enterprise data governance strategy.
- Experience building innovation programs or centers of excellence within a data or technology function.
- Advanced degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
