Accountabilities:

    • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable web applications using React and/or Python (Django).
    • Work on both frontend and backend systems, supporting feature development, bug fixes, and system improvements.
    • Collaborate with distributed engineering teams in weekly meetings to review code, discuss architecture, and plan tasks.
    • Install, configure, and actively contribute to existing codebases across mobile web and API server components.
    • Tackle both small engineering tasks and larger, multi-step development projects aligned with platform needs.
    • Participate in peer collaboration, including occasional pair programming and technical problem-solving sessions.
    • Support ongoing platform stability and readiness for high-impact events such as election cycles.
    • Requirements:

      • Strong experience in software engineering with proficiency in ReactJS, Python, or Django (full-stack experience preferred).
      • Ability to independently complete intermediate to advanced engineering tasks and manage multi-step projects.
      • Availability of at least 8 hours per week, with participation in core team hours (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. US time).
      • Based in the United States and eligible to participate in a fully remote volunteer environment.
      • Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and reliable code.
      • Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working effectively in distributed teams.
      • Self-motivated mindset with a passion for technology and mission-driven work.
      • Previous academic or professional background in Computer Science or Engineering is a plus but not required.
