Summary
The Cash Application Specialist accurately and efficiently prepares and posts payments to the appropriate account, performs reconciliations, and works within various computer applications to manage electronic data.Job Description
Prepares and posts all third-party and patient payments and adjustments to the appropriate account and reconciles with the bank deposit. Keys cash and adjustment charge batches and patient demographics into system software. Receives and posts cash, checks, and credit card payments for medical services (including processing payments made via phone). Performs daily scanning and indexing, as well as other clerical and system functions. Remains current on all new policy and procedure requirements and acts proactively to share information with fellow employees. Trains new staff in all aspects of job-specific tasks and effective use of computer systems. Ensures the use of all available systems and software applications to achieve maximum efficiency. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Associate's Degree or certificate in Medical Office related program preferred.Must have computer experience and at least 1 year of experience working in a healthcare business environment and/or financial institution. Experience/understanding of balancing daily and monthly cash application activity in a professional setting. Experience posting/researching/auditing payments and adjustments to a computerized accounts receivable billing system. Knowledge of medical insurance concepts with an understanding of reading explanations of benefits (EOB) preferred.
