At D-Wave, we’re helping customers realize the value of quantum computing today and are shaping the quantum-driven industrial and societal advancements of tomorrow.About the roleD-Wave is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our Processor Software team, which develops and maintains software supporting our internal Processor Development (PD), Hardware Engineering (HWE), and Lab Operations (LabOps) teams. This role is responsible for custom-built configuration management tools used by all three teams. The ideal candidate has a strong background in software development and is comfortable managing complex configuration systems. You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, research technicians, and other software developers to define requirements for new features, take responsibility for technical design and implementation, and work with software testers to validate the implementation. What you'll doContribute to the full software lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, development, testing, validation, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning Take ownership of and responsibility for bugfixes, enhancements, and new feature development for our existing configuration management software system Work with D-Wave’s LabOps team to provide stable back ends and single-sources-of-truth for the custom front-end applications they build for their own use Improve software architecture, reliability, maintainability, and performance through optimization, testing, and documentation Work closely with software testing and DevOps team members to support reliable validation and deployment of software products for internal use Mentor junior developers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing Contribute to process improvements, technical discussions, and development best practices Participate in the on-call rotation to help ensure the high availability and reliability of our customer-facing quantum computing systems (after demonstrating sufficient knowledge of the system – typically after about 1 year)What you will bringBachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering, or a related discipline 4+ years of relevant software development experience Expertise in Java or other compiled object-oriented language Expertise in SQL and relational database design Experience designing, debugging, and optimizing software for reliability and performance Experience with Git workflows including branching, merging, and pull requests Experience with Linux Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within interdisciplinary teams Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new technologies and...
