UK & Ireland UPS Technical Trainer and Technical Support
Role Summary
As UPS Technical Trainer you are responsible for providing product and procedural training for a range of Vertiv and 3rd party products, for Vertiv staff and customers.
One of the main goals is to ensure the Vertiv team’s who need it have the require level of training to complete their tasks in a competent and safe manner.
Delivery of customer familiarization training also forms another deliverable, either conducted on client sites where possible or conducted within the Bedford Training facility.
You will generally deliver training based on the centrally provided Vertiv Academy courses, however development of future courses by the trainer will also be required.
Providing technical support for Vertiv internal business teams, working around the training commitments that the role entails, will also form part of the role.
Duties & Responsibilities
All activities are to be performed in line with company policies as may be in force from time to time. These include, but are not limited to International Trade Compliance policy, Data Retention Policy, GDPR regulations, etc.
Training
- Deliver Vertiv Academy Training to internal Vertiv teams, mainly but not limited to the Bedford Training facility.
- Develop future training material and courses for products and services that are not covered by the Academy Training materials
- Deliver familiarization training to clients for Vertiv products and services, either on client’s site’s or at the Bedford Training facility
- Develop and assist deliver new product reviews for internal business teams
- Keep accurate and timely records of training completed and training planned, regularly meet with the training and operations teams to plan work 5-6 months ahead
- Ensure that safety is a key priority in all works planned and undertaken for all staff involved or in the area’s of work

Promote a culture of safety, integrity and high standards of workmanship for all teams
Technical Support
- Working around the required training schedules, which will be discussed regularly with business teams, provision of technical support to internal Vertiv teams will be required. The format of this will vary depending on demand, but will form specific case feedback, recommendations to internal teams or specific working projects.
- Participation in regular technical forums to discuss and share technical knowledge will be required
- Site visits to work on specific technical cases will be required from time to time, the trainer will be viewed as a technical expert who can provide both a high level of analysis and interaction with UPS systems
- Development of information and processes to help business teams manage technical data and power system lifecycle management
- Identifying where the business can make use of innovation in either processes or practical technology will also be a focus, to assist the department and business continually improve
Training and Self-Development
Vertiv will provide suitable training to enable the trainer to fulfill the listed duties and responsibilities. This may be via formal training courses or through on-the-job training via coaching / mentoring.
Self-development will also form part of the role identifying suitable courses and experiences required that will be beneficial and where applicable keeping up with engineering knowledge and practices. Note that courses should not be booked without prior authorization from Vertiv management.
