Hilton Sydney is seeking an exceptional Director of Finance to join our Executive Leadership Team. This is a critical leadership role for a commercially astute finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performing environment and is passionate about driving business success through strategic financial leadership.

As Director of Finance, you will be more than the hotel’s financial leader. You will serve as a trusted advisor to the General Manager, executive team, and ownership group, translating financial data into actionable insights that drive profitability, operational excellence, and long-term growth.

What You'll Do

 

  • Lead the hotel’s overall financial strategy, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis.
  • Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Drive profitability, cost management, cash flow performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with Hilton standards, GAAP, statutory requirements, and internal controls.
  • Oversee all accounting, purchasing, and information systems functions.
  • Partner with Commercial, Operations, and Human Resources teams to improve business performance.
  • Champion financial systems, automation, process improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing Finance team focused on accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

About You

 

You are a strategic, hands-on finance leader with strong commercial acumen and a proven track record in large international hotels. You enjoy being deeply involved in the business, balancing high-level strategy with operational execution.

 

To be successful, you will have:

 

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualifications preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' hotel finance experience, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and financial controls.
  • Strong commercial experience driving profitability, cash flow, and business performance.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Advanced analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, Experience with hotel systems such as PEP, BirchStreet, Navision, Agilysys, and advanced Microsoft Office capabilities.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
