Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Trading Market Risk Governance and Reporting, the Senior Manager, Market Risk and Counterparty Analytics, Governance and Control is accountable for leading the Market Risk and Counterparty Analytics group on governance and oversight activities in support of various enterprise programs, audit engagements and Road to Strong deliverables.
This role provides strategic leadership across operational risk activities; oversight and reporting of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); process risk management and quality control testing and supports policy lifecycle and limit management processes along with business management and people strategy initiatives. In addition, the role will support execution of action plan items as part of the Trading Market Risk Road to Strong assessment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operational Risk Management
- Support the execution of Operational Risk requirements, including Process Risk and End-to-End controls, Issues Management and Change Management.
- Oversight over KPIs and KRIs to ensure business processes remain within operational risk appetite.
- Support compliance with non-model and End-User-Computing requirements.
- Participate in audit engagements and support the broader team in remediating internal audit findings.
- Manage the business continuity plan for Market Risk and Counterparty Analytics.
- Meet requirements of emerging enterprise standards and policies.
- Help evolve current practices to meet industry and regulatory standards.
Governance
- Support governance activities and lead the execution of various remediation items as part of the Trading Market Risk Road to Strong deliverables.
- Maintain controls and support the Trading Market Risk policy lifecycle and limit management processes, including administrative support of the Limit Management and Limit Breach escalation systems.
- Help evolve the Trading Market Risk policies in line with industry best practices.
- Maintain thorough understanding of all key risk and risk-related issues through continual review of risk reports/related data and dialogue with relevant parties. Ensure that all risks are transparent to Senior Management.
- Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
- Support deliverables under the Regulatory Compliance Management program.
Team Management
- Lead business management activities for Market Risk and Counterparty Analytics, including management of operating budgets, project reimbursements and vacancies
- Support various people strategy initiatives, including analyst/associate programs, training and development and employee engagement activities.
- Lead a high performing team; provide on-going feedback and performance reviews, coach and develop employees.
- Support an environment where the teams are empowered to escalate issues.
- Foster an environment that promotes innovation, creative thinking, problem solving and collaboration.
- Interact with the stakeholders across the organization including Front Office, Finance/Product Control, Model Development, Technology, Internal Audit and various other control groups.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Advance degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or other relevant discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Capital Markets, Market Risk, Operational Risk or related control functions.
- Prior experience with operational risk management / policy governance and control activities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with cross functional teams and stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Robust organizational skills with the ability to work in a demanding environment and handle multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Advanced critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in managing complex infrastructure changes is an asset.
- Experience working with data analysis and visualization tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the financial industry.
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering business outcomes.
