About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to build and own Oura's retail presence across one of the world's most dynamic and diverse consumer markets Oura is seeking a seasoned, entrepreneurial Senior Director of Retail, APAC to define and execute our go-to-market retail strategy across markets including Japan, South Korea, Australia, Southeast Asia, China, India, and beyond — working across premium consumer electronics, sports lifestyle, and wellness channels. You'll operate as a true business owner: setting the vision, building the team, forging the partnerships, and delivering the numbers. This role sits at the intersection of brand ambition and commercial rigor, and demands a leader who can operate with both the long view and the short-term discipline to deliver.

This role goes well beyond traditional retail sales management. We need a cross-functional leader comfortable operating across sales, marketing, operations, and supply chain—someone who can set the strategic direction for APAC while also rolling up their sleeves to build in a fast-moving, scaling environment.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience across consumer products and multiple distribution channels (retail, e-commerce, distributor/wholesale, operator/carrier, and specialty), a track record of launching brands into new APAC markets, and a passion for delivering best-in-class omnichannel brand experiences.

What You Will Do

STRATEGY & COMMERCIAL LEADERSHIP

  • Define and own the APAC retail vision, strategy, and annual operating plan — aligning closely with global sales, marketing, and product leadership.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize market entry opportunities across APAC, including direct retail, wholesale, travel retail, and emerging digital-to-physical formats.
  • Build the commercial architecture for the region: pricing strategy, channel segmentation, promotional frameworks, and trade investment principles.
  • Lead annual and quarterly business planning cycles, owning regional P&L and delivering against revenue, margin, and market share targets.
  • Translate global brand positioning into locally resonant retail executions that reflect the nuance of each market across the region.

SALES PERFORMANCE

  • Drive revenue growth and profitability across all APAC channels
  • Set and achieve ambitious sales targets and KPIs across retail, online, and emerging channels.
  • Monitor performance, analyze trends, and make high-stakes decisions with imperfect information to adjust course and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Proactively assess and optimize commercial investments including Marketing Development Funds/CO-OP, conditional and unconditional rebates, merchandising, and administrative support.

CHANNEL & PARTNER MANAGEMENT

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key retail partners, major electronics retailers, department stores, specialty retailers, e-commerce platforms, distributors, and operator/carrier partners across APAC.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts, pricing structures, promotional calendars, and trading terms with partners across diverse regulatory and commercial environments.
  • Establish and scale fixture/display programs, visual merchandising, 3PL logistics, training programs, and in-store brand experiences tailored to each market.

TEAM & ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Build the APAC commercial team from the ground up: recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing, culturally diverse team across multiple countries.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and entrepreneurial thinking as the business scales.
  • Provide mentorship and career development to direct reports and extended teams, developing future leaders within the organization.
  • Lead hiring and succession planning for senior roles across the region.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS

  • Own the APAC retail budget: headcount, trade investment, Marketing Development Funds / co-op, and operational expenditure.
  • Provide accurate, timely forecasting and business reporting to senior leadership, with clear commercial narrative and a bias for action.
  • Partner with finance to ensure all commercial provisions — sales allowances, markdowns, rebates — are accurately tracked and reconciled.
  • Monitor competitive landscape, market dynamics, and consumer trends to continuously refine strategy and identify growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in retail sales, commercial, and account management roles within the consumer electronics or consumer products industry, with 7+ years in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling commercial operations in APAC markets—ideally with direct experience across at least three of: ANZ, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore. Experience in China is highly valued.
  • Deep familiarity with multiple distribution channels: direct retail, e-commerce, distributor/wholesale, specialty, and operator/carrier models.
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams from scratch, hire across cultures, and lead through ambiguity in fast-scaling environments.
  • Strong P&L ownership experience with a proven ability to drive revenue growth and operational efficiency at a regional level.
  • Expertise in owning and managing large-scale marketing budgets, partner marketing negotiations, and optimizing spend for measurable impact.
  • Experience leading large-scale fixture/display programs and visual merchandising for top-tier retailers, including 3PL programs, training, and maintenance.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills across diverse cultural contexts.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical acumen, and project management capabilities.

What Sets You Apart

  • You've navigated the complexity of APAC retail — distributor markets and direct, regulatory nuance and cultural specificity — and you've come out ahead.
  • You bring genuine passion for health, performance, and the intersection of technology and human potential.
  • You think like a GM: brand, commercial, people, and operations are all in your frame simultaneously.
  • People follow you because you set a clear direction, hold yourself accountable, and invest in their growth.
  • Exceptional commercial acumen: you read a P&L fluently, identify levers quickly, and make resource allocation decisions with confidence.
  • A builder's instinct — energized by ambiguity, comfortable creating structure, and able to move between strategy and execution without losing momentum.
  • Outstanding communicator and influencer: you command the room with retail partners and earn trust internally at the most senior levels.
  • High cross-cultural intelligence; able to adapt leadership style, communication, and strategy to the specific context of each APAC market.
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in one or more additional APAC languages (Mandarin, Japanese, Korean) a strong advantage.
