Sales Operation & Vehicle Preparation Manager
Job Description
Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Japan Headquarter office in Tokyo, Japan full time.
The Role -
- Responsible for achieving yearly and monthly wholesale volume targets.
- Oversee the full operation of the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) to meet sales requirements in Quality, Delivery, and Cost, ensuring compliance with JMLIT regulations.
- Lead Vehicle Quality Management, including reporting issues to GM systems, analyzing quality trends, and driving cost saving initiatives.
- Supervise and manage outsourced staff working within the VPC.
What You’ll Do -
Sales & Production Planning
- Manage yearly and monthly wholesale volume performance
- Develop and introduce production plans aligned with sales requirements, considering model mix and priorities
- Plan and manage processing orders based on monthly forecasts and dealer demand to achieve dealer targets and GMJ RS forecast volumes, in collaboration with the Sales Planning Manager.
Vehicle Processing Center Operations
- Ensure VPC operations meet required standards in quality, delivery timing, and cost efficiency.
- Maintain and continuously improve delivery standards and production quality.
- Oversee Conformity Inspection for all imported vehicles.
- Monitor product quality upon receipt from source plants and take timely action on defects to maintain production flow and improve quality.
- Manage and monitor production processes to ensure quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Control in process volume and car pool capacity to maintain smooth material flow.
- Process source defects and transportation damage through warranty and insurance procedures.
- Establish and manage VPC budgets.
- Manage ordering of stock parts and materials required for vehicle processing.
- Handle dealer claims and provide appropriate solutions.
- Support new model launches and MY changes in collaboration with Product and cross functional teams.
- Ensure proper facility, equipment, tools, headcount, systems, and materials to support stable production.
- Maintain VPC security.
- Provide timely reports and information to management.
Quality Management
- Report quality issues using the GM global PRTS system.
- Conduct troubleshooting with GM Japan for vehicle issues.
- Communicate with GM International Quality teams in Korea and participate in meetings and monthly reporting.
- Lead quality analysis and cost saving initiatives.
People Management (Outsourced Staff)
- Implement an efficient organizational structure with appropriate staffing.
- Monitor performance, provide coaching, and address personnel issues.
- Ensure safety, sanitation, and health standards for all staff.
- Manage execution of GM online training programs for team members.
- Regulatory & Administrative Duties
- Notify relevant changes to the Labor Standards Office, Health Office, and Fire Department as required Others
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Knowledge/ Skill and License
- Business English capability (TOEIC 600 and above).
- Driving License.
- Preferable minimum 3rd grade national automotive technician certificates (1st or 2nd grade is preferable).
- Computer literate in Windows applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Access preferable).
- Proven problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and oral communications skills in Japanese and English.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Working experience as a technician/ quality improvement or logistic relation for more than 5 years at a Japanese automotive firm or an importer.
