Your day at NTT DATAAs an Observability Engineer (AppDynamics and Splunk), you will be responsible for delivering enterprise observability solutions for customers by designing, deploying, configuring, integrating, and optimizing Cisco AppDynamics and Splunk platforms. You will work closely with customer application, infrastructure, operations, security, and service management teams to provide end-to-end monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards, and operational visibility for business-critical services.In this role, you will participate in the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through implementation, testing, go-live, and operational handover. You will also support pre-sales activities by conducting customer workshops, proof-of-concepts (POCs), technical demonstrations, and solution validation exercises to help position observability solutions effectively.

Key responsibilities:
  • Deploy and configure Cisco AppDynamics and Splunk solutions within customer environments.
  • Support implementation activities across multiple customer projects.
    Conduct technical workshops and requirements gathering sessions with customer stakeholders.
  • Design observability solutions covering application monitoring, log analytics, dashboards, alerts, and reporting.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot AppDynamics agents, controllers, health rules, policies, dashboards, and performance monitoring components.
  • Configure Splunk data onboarding, forwarders, indexes, source types, field extractions, searches, alerts, reports, and dashboards.
  • Integrate AppDynamics and Splunk with ITSM and event management platforms where required.
  • Build business and operational dashboards for application, infrastructure, and operations teams.
  • Perform alert tuning, event correlation, and noise reduction activities.
  • Support service mapping, business transaction monitoring, and performance analysis.
  • Troubleshoot deployment, integration, data ingestion, monitoring, and performance issues.
  • Prepare project deliverables including HLDs, LLDs, implementation plans, test cases, as-built documentation, SOPs, and handover documents.
  • Deliver knowledge transfer and training sessions to customer operations teams.
  • Support UAT, go-live, stabilization, and transition-to-operations activities.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with agreed scope, timelines, and best practices.
  • Support customer POCs and technical solution demonstrations alongside pre-sales teams.

To thrive in this role, you need to have:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco AppDynamics deployment, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of application agents, machine agents, database monitoring, business transactions, service flow mapping, and transaction snapshots.
  • Experience creating health rules, policies, alerts, dashboards, and performance reports.
  • Strong experience with Splunk Enterprise and/or Splunk Cloud.
  • Experience with Splunk forwarders, data onboarding, indexes, source types, field extraction, dashboards, alerts, reports, and searches.
  • Good working knowledge of SPL query development.
  • Ability to develop operational dashboards, log analytics use cases, and alert correlation rules.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills covering monitoring, ingestion, parsing, search performance, and alerting issues.
  • Understanding of observability concepts including logs, metrics, traces, events, and end-to-end service monitoring.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, middleware, databases, APIs, microservices, containers, and enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with ITSM and event management integrations.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple customer priorities.
  • Good project coordination, documentation, and knowledge transfer capabilities.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes, including incident, problem, change, and service management.

Academic qualifications and certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • AppDynamics certification preferred.
  • Splunk certification preferred.
  • ITIL certification preferred.
  • Azure, AWS, or other relevant cloud certifications are advantageous.

Required experience:
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting AppDynamics and Splunk solutions.
  • Experience working within a System Integrator, Managed Services, or project delivery environment.
  • Proven experience delivering observability, monitoring, and logging projects for enterprise customers.
  • Experience conducting customer workshops, technical discussions, and requirements-gathering sessions.
  • Experience producing HLDs, LLDs, implementation plans, migration plans, as-built documents, and operational SOPs.
  • Experience coordinating with customers, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Experience supporting UAT, go-live, stabilization, and operational handover activities.
  • Exposure to pre-sales activities, including POCs, technical demonstrations, and solution validation.
  • Experience integrating observability platforms with ITSM or event management solutions is preferred.
