Job Description
As Senior Manager – Head of Medical Device Laboratory, you will play a key role in the Analytical community within the Global Device and Packaging Development (GDPD) team in Schaftenau, Austria.
You will lead a team responsible for method development, validation, and transfer for functional and mechanical attributes, as well as product development testing, design verification, container closure integrity, and stability testing.
As a laboratory manager under Austrian law, you will oversee the release of incoming materials and assembled products for clinical trials. You will guide a team working at the interface of engineering and drug products, ensuring strong scientific execution, GMP-compliant documentation, effective project delivery, and alignment with applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
Success in this role requires an action-oriented and one team mindset, combined with strong planning capabilities and disciplined execution to drive priorities forward across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Analytical Innovation & Testing team in Schaftenau
- Plan, manage, and control project resources, schedules, and budgets.
- Scientific expertise in Method development for new functional test methods of combination products incorporating relevant standards requirements such as ISOs and/or Pharmacopeia
- Provide a general framework and ensure documentation in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and applicable Design Control standards.
- Act as Head of Quality Control in accordance with AMBO §9.
- Representative within internal and authorities' inspections for the areas of responsibility.
Essential Requirements:
- Master or PhD (preferred) in natural science, engineering, pharmaceutical field or equivalent.
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably with experience of exposure to drug-device technical development.
- Strong track-record of people leadership
- Proven knowledge and track record in project and program planning and execution
- Understanding and awareness of regulatory guidelines for drug-device combination products, including relevant ISOs and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP).
- Very good organizational and communication skills, high level of self-motivation, systematic and conscientious way of working.
- Collaborative spirit, self-driven attitude, high level of learning agility, good listening skills, strategic thinker.
- Fluent in English (oral and writing), German is beneficial
