Accountabilities:
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions.
- Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Support annual financial statement audits, government audits, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure accounting practices align with GAAP, FAR, DCAA guidelines, and Cost Accounting Standards when applicable.
- Monitor government contract funding, indirect rates, project costs, labor distributions, and cost allocations.
- Assist with incurred cost submissions, provisional billing rates, and indirect rate calculations.
- Prepare and submit accurate invoices for government contracts, including cost-reimbursable, time and materials, and firm fixed-price agreements.
- Review contract requirements to ensure billing compliance and proper revenue recognition.
- Process government billing submissions through applicable federal invoicing systems.
- Reconcile billed revenue with the general ledger and monitor accounts receivable activity.
- Resolve billing discrepancies in partnership with project teams and contract stakeholders.
- Maintain audit documentation and strengthen internal accounting controls.
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with Contracts, Program Management, Human Resources, and Finance teams on accounting matters.
- Provide financial guidance to project managers regarding funding, labor charging, and billing requirements.
- Mentor junior accounting team members and support knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years supporting government contracting environments.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, FAR, DCAA compliance, and government accounting practices.
- Experience with government contract billing, including Time & Materials (T&M), Cost Plus, and Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contracts.
- Experience with contract accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and advanced formulas.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
- Experience with indirect rate calculations and provisional billing rates preferred.
- Familiarity with WAWF, IPP, PIEE, or other federal invoicing systems preferred.
- Experience supporting DCAA audits and contractor business system reviews preferred.
