Accountabilities:
- Analyze existing Erlang-based services, APIs, and data flows to understand business logic and constraints
- Design and develop scalable backend APIs using Node.js and TypeScript for frontend and system integration needs
- Lead migration of legacy services into maintainable, well-tested microservices architecture
- Redesign data models and migrate data from Riak to AWS databases such as RDS and DocumentDB
- Implement and manage event-driven communication using Kafka, SQS, or RabbitMQ
- Ensure system performance, scalability, security, and reliability in a cloud-native AWS environment
- Improve observability through logging, monitoring, tracing, and operational readiness practices
- Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, documentation, and agile ceremonies
- 5–10 years of backend development experience with strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript
- Solid experience designing APIs (REST, BFF, contract-first approaches) for frontend consumption
- Hands-on experience with legacy system migration or large-scale refactoring projects
- Strong understanding of data modeling and database migration (NoSQL to RDS/DocumentDB preferred)
- Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies
- Good knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native architectures
- Strong understanding of backend security (OAuth, JWT, IAM, API security best practices)
- Experience with testing practices including unit, integration, and migration testing
- Strong communication skills in English; ability to work in collaborative, agile teams
