About this role: 
We are seeking an experienced Country HR Manager to provide HR partnership and consultation to Gartner Germany. This role will lead as a local HR Country Manager for Germany and as the point of contact to the German Works Council. Depending on experience, responsibility for a client group as HR Business Partner can be added. The role is set up to ensure Gartner can successfully hire, develop, and retain top talent in Germany.

  • Works Council collaboration – Be point of contact to the German works council. Run regular meetings and drive on all topics of induvial interest. Collaborate with other parties (your manager, HR COEs) on topics of collective interest, own related project management, participate in negotiations and where possible, own these. Advise managers, HRPs and COEs on Works Council collaboration. Build a trusted relationship with the German works council.

  • Country Manager - Provide local expertise to guide best practices and ensure legal compliance in support of people programs and processes. Lead internal communications for Germany, acting as a focal point for people announcements, policies and procedures. Proactively manage legal risk and continually ensure compliance with local labor laws considering the whole life cycle of an associate. Build and maintain effective, credible partnerships to educate HR Partners, managers and associates on a variety of employee related issues. Be a partner for the HR Partner community on associate initiatives. Be a trusted advisor to international HR Partners, local and international managers with teams in Germany and HR COEs on all Germany specifics. Advise and coach on how to manage complex issues and conduct difficult conversations.

  • Employee Relations – Identify and mitigate risks, promote associate engagement, and contribute to the development of a strong organizational culture and well-being. Minimize risk to organization by actively responding to and addressing associate concerns in a timely manner. Conduct complete investigations and make recommendations based on findings/facts. Collaborate with legal and the ER COE as needed to address complex or highly sensitive issues, such as tribunals.

  • HR Partner (depending on experience and interest) – Partner with a client group in the German Sales organization. Guide managers and associates, or their representatives, through consultation processes, providing clear information about proposed changes and their implications. Run the full annual review cycle from goal setting over reviews and ratings to compensation impact. Partner with recruiting to ensure a conscious, deliberate approach to attracting and retaining top talent from both inside and outside the organization. Support management in talent retention.

What you’ll need: 

  • Undergraduate degree strongly preferred; graduate degree(s) in related fields ideal

  • Progressive HR experience in international organizations (ideally American HQ) whilst working on regional projects

  • Advanced employee relations experience - including performance management and consultations

  • Thorough knowledge of German labor law and works constitution act

  • Experience in Works Council collaboration. Negotiation skills

  • Strong judgment and discretion; ability to manage highly sensitive situations effectively

  • Ability to influence leaders and collaborate across the organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ideally HR Business Partner skills including, executing or advising on employee engagement, succession planning, comp, workforce planning, recruitment, and training and development.
