Location: Hybrid (Local to NYC, Denver CO, or Charlotte, NC area) 

Position Summary:

The Data Scientist will analyze complex data using statistical analysis, programming, and data science techniques to uncover insights that support pharmacy benefit management business decisions and identify opportunities where machine learning can be leveraged to best effect for the company. This role requires experience with advanced data retrieval knowledge, exploratory data analysis, and data visualization to translate data into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Owns predictive modeling, experimentation, machine learning analytics, and AI-enabled analytics that improve operational efficiency, product performance, and healthcare outcomes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead advanced analytics and machine learning supporting initiatives that drive business and product decisions.
  • Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations for technical, executive, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Engineering, Clinical Operations, Analytics, and business teams to define analytical requirements and success metrics.
  • Design experiments, conduct hypothesis testing, and perform deep-dive analyses to quantify business impact.
  • Build dashboards, visualizations, and reporting that monitor outcomes, data quality, workflow efficiency, and client impact.
  • Develop predictive models and time-savings analyses for prior authorization and operational workflows.
  • Evaluate and responsibly apply AI and machine learning solutions for prior authorization and healthcare operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience with programming languages, like Python or R
  • 4+ years of experience with complex SQL
  • 3+ years of experience with the pharmacy benefit management domain
  • Experience working with structured, unstructured, or semi-structured data and conducting exploratory analysis, feature engineering, and data quality validation
  • Experience with data wrangling techniques to cleanse data for data science applications
  • Experience building statistical models and hands-on experience evaluating, validating, and monitoring machine learning models
  • Experience designing software including: development life cycle, testing, and version control
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, data visualization, dashboarding, and stakeholder-facing analytical storytelling
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to easily pivot priorities
  • Ability to work effectively with virtual teams
  • Ability to travel 5-10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years working with pharmacy benefit management prior authorization data
  • 2+ years working with JSON or other data-exchange format tools preferred
  • 3+ years experience presenting analysis to clients and/or executive management preferred
  • 2+ years of experience with ETL or ELT preferred
  • Experience with cloud analytics platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or similar technologies preferred
  • Experience developing production-ready predictive analytics, AI, or machine learning solutions preferred
