This is a player-coach role: you’ll lead a team of senior technical PMs while staying deeply hands-on, writing specs, driving architectural decisions, and partnering directly with engineering at every level of the stack. This is not a role for a generalist — it’s for someone equally at home debating prompt chaining strategy with an engineer and presenting a multi-year roadmap to a C-suite. What you get to do in this role: Lead a high-performing PM team. Recruit, mentor, and manage senior technical PMs; set the standard for rigor and technical depth. Own the roadmap. Define and drive multi-quarter strategy for core platform components and align with engineering on sequencing and tradeoffs. Be the technical anchor between PM and engineering. Partner directly with engineering leads and architects; drive API design, framework architecture, and data model decisions with the same fluency as your engineering counterparts. Be a customer-facing product leader. Engage enterprise customers in discovery, design reviews, and escalations — from CTO roadmap presentations to hands-on working sessions with customer engineering teams. Deliver enterprise-grade product. Make platform components can be extended by teams building on the platform without sacrificing reliability and deliver enterprise-grade security and reliability. Synthesize complexity into clarity. Communicate platform strategy, architectural tradeoffs, and roadmap priorities to executive, technical, and customer audiences with precision. QualificationsTo be successful in this role you have: 15+ years in technical product management with substantial time on platform or infrastructure products at a top-tier enterprise software or AI company; you’ve personally written detailed specs and pushed back on engineering on architecture. Agentic AI and LLM expertise. Hands-on product ownership of LLM-based systems; deep understanding of tool-calling, multi-agent coordination, RAG, context management, and real-world failure modes. Fluency in AI infrastructure and a drive to stay current. You track the full stack — inference infrastructure, orchestration patterns, emerging runtime standards, and agent frameworks — and bring that knowledge directly into product decisions. Engineering depth. Comfortable at the API, data model, and system design level; you can participate meaningfully in architecture reviews and earn engineers’ respect through substance, not title. Enterprise scale experience. You’ve shipped software at real scale and know how to write requirements that account for multi-tenancy, latency, observability, and upgrade paths from day one. Customer-facing credibility. Equally effective with a customer’s engineering team and their executive leadership; you turn customer conversations into sharper product thinking. Player-coach leadership. You manage and elevate a team of PMs while staying deeply in the work yourself — setting the bar through output, not just direction.
