Job Description Summary

As an early-career engineer within the GE Vernova Heavy Duty Plant Engineering (HDPE) team focusing on the Inquiry to Remittance (ITR) process, you will contribute within the lifecycle of our power generation projects—from proposal development and technical solutioning to project execution. You will work within a collaborative, cross-functional environment, supporting the delivery of high-quality technical solutions that meet our customer expectations and business objectives. You will function with guidance from experienced leaders, learning to manage project technical requirements while developing a mindset focused on Lean principles, quality, and operational excellence.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The following are responsibilities within the organization that you will have the opportunity to support:

  • Project Execution: Assist in the delivery of assigned project scopes, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, technical standards, and safety protocols.
  • Technical Coordination: Act as a junior point of contact for internal engineering organizations, supporting the coordination of design documentation, and addressing technical inquiries.
  • Risk Mitigation: Support project risk management by identifying potential schedule or technical hurdles early and assisting in the implementation of mitigation plans.
  • Lean & Continuous Improvement: Participate in Lean engineering initiatives to simplify interfaces and improve efficiency. Contribute to "lessons learned" feedback loops to prevent reoccurring issues.
  • Financial & Schedule Awareness: Support the tracking of project budgets, cost estimates, and schedules to ensure timely delivery and alignment with project financials.
  • "Bid, Sell, & Execute the Standard": Apply standardized processes to project deliverables to drive consistency, quality, and productivity across all ITR segments.
  • Communication: Assist in preparing project updates for stakeholders, highlighting key milestones and technical risks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline) from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

  • 0-1-year engineering experience

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The required work location is Greenville, SC or Schenectady, NY (relocation assistance is available)

Desired Characteristics

  • Recent university graduate with internship or co-op experience in power generation, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments.
  • Foundational knowledge of project management principles or engineering design lifecycles.
  • Familiarity with Lean methodology or process improvement tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software tools and documentation systems quickly.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required to support project sites or customer meetings.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $72,000.00 and $108,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
