About Knit Health

Knit Health is building a novel clinical foundation model to improve the way healthcare is delivered. We combine expertise in AI with deep clinical knowledge to develop safe, trustworthy systems that improve care, expand access, and reduce waste. Knit is led by a founding team from the University of California Berkeley who have developed a novel AI architecture which learns to reason like physicians. We’re now closing the loop and using our novel foundation model, together with frontier clinical LLMs, to build a next generation clinical intelligence platform for providers. We are venture backed and have partnered with multiple US-based health systems and data providers.

Why this role

We are seeking a practicing clinician to serve as an on-the-ground clinical consultant, bringing hands-on clinical judgment to how our models are evaluated and applied in real-world care settings. You’ll work closely with our data science and product teams to ground model development in sound clinical practice, and help represent that clinical perspective in conversations with potential partners.

We estimate the current need at approximately 5-10 hours per week, with the scope expected to evolve as we grow.

What you'll do

  • Frame clinically meaningful evaluation criteria and benchmarks for assessing model performance.
  • Review and evaluate model outputs for clinical accuracy, safety, and reasoning quality.
  • Provide clinical input on the design of data models used in the platform.
  • Advise on clinical considerations for proof-of-concept work and product development with partners.
  • Support the product team in preparing decks and materials for meetings with potential partners.
  • Participate in client-facing meetings and discussions with prospective partners as needed.

Minimum qualifications

  • Active medical license and current patient-facing clinical practice.
  • Generalist background preferred (e.g., internal medicine, hospitalist medicine, emergency medicine, family medicine).
  • Career stage from senior resident (PGY-3 or later) through early-career attending.
  • Comfortable and experienced in client-facing situations, including meetings with prospective partners.

This role suits someone still close to daily patient care. It is a strong fit for senior residents or fellows with real availability, hospitalists, and attendings in their first few years of independent practice.

Salary Range

The range for the Clinical Informatics Consultant is approximately $150-200/hr.

Benefits

Generous benefits for full-time employees include: medical, dental, and vision coverage with 100% of premiums paid for employees and dependents (full coverage for dental, vision, and our Gold medical plan; employees may choose to buy up to Platinum); coverage begins on the first day of employment. Additional benefits include a 401(k) plan and 24 days of PTO annually.
