Atlantic Health System is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and collaborative Nurse Manager to oversee operations for Simon 5 Oncology and Simon 3 Palliative Care at Morristown Medical Center. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care while fostering a culture of clinical excellence, professional development, quality improvement, and patient safety.

The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader with a background in oncology, hematology, and/or hospice nursing who is passionate about mentoring teams, improving patient outcomes, and advancing evidence-based practice. Experience caring for patients with complex oncologic, hematologic, or end-of-life care needs is required.

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership for Simon 5 Oncology and Simon 3 Palliative Care, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop nursing staff through orientation, competency validation, performance feedback, and ongoing professional development.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs that support evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and standardized workflows.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, interdisciplinary teams, and system stakeholders to develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance patient care and operational performance.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing patient outcomes, clinical metrics, and staff performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of safety by partnering with Environment of Care (EOC) and Infection Prevention (IP) teams to ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and best practices.
  • Develop, review, and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and practice guidelines that support exceptional patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, medication administration practices, controlled substance regulations, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and supportive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and staff engagement.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and leader while supporting interdisciplinary collaboration across the health system.
  • Perform other leadership responsibilities as assigned.

  • 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Required

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Recent clinical experience in Oncology, Hematology, and/or Hospice nursing is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an acute care or hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of oncology and palliative care clinical practices, quality improvement, regulatory standards, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to lead change, mentor staff, and drive clinical excellence.

Preferred

  • Previous nurse leadership or management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Specialty certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN), Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing (CHPN), or Nurse Executive (NE-BC/NEA-BC) preferred.
