ABOUT MOTHER’S OUTREACH NETWORKMother’s Outreach Network (MON) is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit advancing racial justice and economic equity through liberatory legal representation, guaranteed income advocacy, and mother-led policy work. We center Black mothers navigating the family policing system, with a concentrated focus on communities in Wards 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. MON operates from the conviction that poverty is not neglect, and that every family deserves the tools to stay together and thrive. We are building toward a national presence.POSITION SUMMARYMON seeks a Chief of Staff to serve as a trusted operational partner to the Executive Director. This is a high-responsibility role for a highly competent, professionally grounded individual who thrives at the intersection of organizational management, executive support, and systems-building. The Chief of Staff ensures that MON’s day-to-day operations, cross-functional priorities, and internal systems run with precision, accountability, and consistency — in service of MON’s liberatory mission.This position reports directly to the Executive Director and works across all program, development, legal, and communications functions.THIS ROLE IS FULLY IN-PERSONThis position is full-time and in-person in Washington, DC. No remote or hybrid arrangement is offered. Candidates must confirm their ability and willingness to work on-site five days per week before applying.CORE RESPONSIBILITIESExecutive PartnershipManage the Executive Director’s calendar, scheduling, and communications with increasing autonomyPrepare briefings, talking points, and decision-support materialsProtect the Executive Director's time and attention for high-leverage strategic workSurface risks and concerns with data, candor, and sound judgmentOperations and SystemsOwn and maintain all organizational systems including Google Workspace, Asana, Clio, Little Greenlight, Mailchimp, DocuSign, and GrasshopperBuild and maintain SOPs, checklists, and operational documentationManage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurementOversee office logistics, equipment, and facilitiesPeople and CultureSupport all active hiring searches and own staff and contractor onboarding and off-boardingMaintain timesheet, payment, and reimbursement processes for all staff, contractors, and program participantsCreate conditions where a small, dedicated team can do their best work — removing operational friction, protecting staff time, and maintaining a professional environment grounded in clarity, accountability, and respectFinance and GrantsCoordinate with the external accounting firm on bookkeeping, financial reporting, and monthly closeMaintain the grants calendar and support grant reporting and new funding researchSupport budget review and vendor auditsPrograms and EventsOwn logistics and operational planning for MON events, convenings, and community gatheringsSupport program administration, participant tracking, and data collectionCoordinate...
