Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Assistant II, you will assume a crucial supportive role, collaborating with the healthcare team and patients/families to identify and meet their comprehensive needs while promoting optimal health, well-being, and safety. Every day you will perform a variety of clinical tasks as directed by providers, meticulously maintain accurate chart documentation, participate in professional development, and potentially assist with front office duties, all while contributing to an efficient and patient-focused work environment. To be successful in this role, you will be a Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT) with a commitment to patient care standards, strong clinical skills, and personal accountability for relationship-based care and our organizational mission. Your dedication to growth within our MA Clinical Ladder is highly valued.

 

  • Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data, and evaluate patient's response and report to responsible provider to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic interventions including but not limited to vital signs, mini treatments/procedures, prevention services, pre-visit planning and post-visit follow up, medication refills per protocol for existing treatment plans and ensures patient flow through the clinic is efficient.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of patient plan of care and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team; determine presence/absence of barriers to active participation in the individualized care plan and ability to self-manage their health conditions, with the purpose of planning patient care and care coordination.
  • Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family, health literacy, barriers to learning readiness, needs, and ability, then provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching; patient engagement.
  • Encourage patient engagement in the healthcare partnership through the use of motivational interviewing, evidence-based self-management support protocols, tools, and teach-back methodology.
  • Precepts and mentors new staff or medical assistant students as needed.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Certified or registered Medical Assistant from an approved organization
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) form American Heart Association

Preferred

  • Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program or EMT training

 

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
