Accountabilities:
- Manage regional fleet operations to ensure alignment with business priorities, operational requirements, and enterprise fleet strategy.
- Lead, coach, and develop remote Fleet Coordinators, Technicians, and Mechanics through goal setting, performance management, training, and career development.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and drive compliance with fleet performance and safety targets.
- Establish, improve, and maintain scalable fleet processes, workflows, and operational standards.
- Ensure vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance records, and regulatory documentation are accurate and up to date.
- Manage fleet asset yards, including security, inventory accuracy, reserve availability, asset growth, and redistribution planning.
- Support capital planning activities, including asset acquisition requests, retirement processes, and expense management.
- Conduct field visits to evaluate operational performance, compliance, service quality, and vendor effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with external fleet vendors, conduct performance reviews, and implement improvement plans when needed.
- Partner with Operations and corporate teams by providing fleet insights, recommendations, and strategic guidance.
- Serve as a regional subject matter expert on DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements.
- Support fleet specifications, innovation initiatives, and safety improvements for new and existing assets.
- Develop and deliver training programs that improve fleet knowledge, operational consistency, and compliance.
- Analyze fleet data, financial reports, and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Travel regularly throughout the assigned region, including occasional overnight travel.
- 5+ years of experience in fleet management, fleet operations, or related program leadership roles.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Experience managing employees, including remote teams and distributed direct reports.
- Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements.
- Experience developing and delivering employee training programs.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience developing and managing regional budgets and interpreting financial reports.
- Ability to build strong relationships, negotiate effectively, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Strong integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
- Experience managing large construction, utility, or service vehicle fleets preferred.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
- Experience with fleet management information systems such as JD Edwards or similar platforms preferred.
- Familiarity with telematics systems, asset management tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and fleet diagnostic equipment preferred.
- Ability to work in office, outdoor, and field environments while meeting physical requirements, including occasional lifting, climbing, and exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Competitive salary range of $90,000 - $120,000 annually.
