**Your role and responsibilities**
As a Visual Designer specializing in Accessibility, you will communicate intent and meaning through visual experiences to incite understanding and action from people. You will translate functions and information into emotionally compelling and desirable experiences, focusing on accessible visual design.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Design Accessible Visual Experiences: Create visual experiences that unify and exemplify the convergence of user/market insights and IBM brand/design language, ensuring accessible use of color, color contrast, text and layout, motion and animation, and support for personalization.
* Interpret Research Insights: Build understanding of the subject matter to design for user and market resonance, considering the diverse ways people with disabilities and neurodivergent people consume visual content.
* Translate Information into Visual Forms: Make information compelling, easier to understand, and actionable through nuanced use of visual elements, such as color, tone, layout, composition, imagery, typography, interactions, and motion.
* Review Designs for Accessibility: Specify design features needed for accessibility and review designs for consistency with the IBM Accessibility Requirements.
* Communicate through Visual Representations: Make ideas come to life through imagery and visual representations of concepts at various levels of fidelity.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Exposure to Accessible Visual Design: Familiarity with designing visual experiences that ensure accessible use of color, color contrast, text and layout, motion and animation, and support for personalization.
* Understanding of User Research: Exposure to interpreting research insights and building understanding of the subject matter to design for user and market resonance.
* Visual Design Skills: Experience working with visual elements, such as color, tone, layout, composition, imagery, typography, interactions, and motion, to make information compelling and easier to understand.
* Accessibility Guidelines Knowledge: Familiarity with accessibility requirements and guidelines, such as the IBM Accessibility Requirements, to specify design features needed for accessibility.
* Visual Representation Techniques: Exposure to creating visual representations of concepts at various levels of fidelity to effectively communicate ideas.
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* Accessible Design Tools: Exposure to tools and software that support accessible visual design, such as color contrast analyzers and accessibility checkers.
* Inclusive Design Principles: Familiarity with principles of inclusive design, including consideration of diverse user needs and abilities.
* Personalization Techniques: Exposure to techniques for supporting personalization in visual design, such as adaptable layouts and customizable interfaces.
