That means our teams are not simply maintaining existing systems; they are building new capabilities, solving first-of-their-kind challenges, and helping define what persistent.    Job Description  The Mechanical Engineer will work on the design of new and existing high-altitude balloons, stratocraft, launch equipment, and other subsystems.     Role Responsibilities  Work cross functionally with Engineering and Design teams to develop new and existing products  Reviews design specifications and project requirements  Evaluates performance issues through troubleshooting and failure investigation  Creates detailed design schematics through the use of design software  Field testing flight hardware with assistance from the operations team    Qualifications  BS in Mechanical Engineering  4+ years of Mechanical Design Experience  Solid understanding of structural design and analysis using hand calcs and SolidWorks Simulation  Use of Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA)  Strong understanding of GD&T  Working knowledge of ASME standards  Proficient in the use of Mechanical Design programs such as SolidWorks  Strong written and verbal communication skills    Bonus Points  Experience working with Aerospace materials  Experience with high altitude balloon design  MS in Mechanical Engineering    What We Offer   You will work side by side with experts in emerging technology, gaining exposure to cutting edge ideas and projects that are shaping the future. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance because we believe in taking care of the you as a person, not just a team member.   Our Tucson workplace is designed to support collaboration, focus, and well-being, with an on-site environment that keeps supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and program teams closely connected to the mission.  We believe in creating a dynamic and inclusive workplace where creativity thrives, and every voice is heard.
