Roles & Responsibilities – Informatica Application Support Engineer

1. Enhancement & Continuous Improvement Activities

  • Analyze enhancement requests from business and technical teams.
  • Implement modifications in mappings, workflows, parameters, and ETL logic based on change requests.
  • Develop new ETL workflows and reusable components for evolving business requirements.
  • Perform performance tuning and optimization of Informatica mappings and sessions.
  • Identify automation opportunities for repetitive operational activities using Shell scripting or Python.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase ETL stability, efficiency, and maintainability.
  • Monitor daily ETL batch execution for Informatica PowerCenter / IDMC workflows and mappings.
  • Track workflow, session, and task execution status to ensure successful completion within SLA.
  • Support critical business cycles and provide on-call support when required.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot workflow, mapping, session, and data load failures.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production incidents and recurring issues.
  • Coordinate with database, infrastructure, cloud, Unix, and application teams for issue resolution.
  • Handle workflow recovery, rerun, restart, and data correction activities.
  • Perform impact analysis for production issues and outages.
  • Validate source-to-target data reconciliation and completeness.
  • Investigate data discrepancies, missing records, and transformation issues.
  • Support data quality checks and exception handling processes.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with business rules.
  • Coordinate with business users for data validation and issue confirmation.
  • Support code migration and deployment activities across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Validate deployment packages and ensure successful release implementation.
  • Maintain version control and deployment documentation.
  • Monitor ETL performance bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization.
  • Tune mapping transformations, SQL queries, partitioning, and workflow execution strategies.
  • Maintain operational runbooks, SOPs, support documents, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Document RCA findings, known issues, and resolution procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge repositories for support and enhancement activities.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer sessions and cross-team collaboration.
  • Install, Patch, Maintain, troubleshooting Platform support
  • Perform deployment of code
  • Coordinate with Application team for schedule maintenance including performing activity.

Skill Required

  • Strong experience in Informatica PowerCenter and/or IDMC ETL support and troubleshooting
  • Good knowledge of SQL, database concepts, and Unix/Linux scripting
  • Experience in production support, incident management, and performance tuning
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder coordination skills
