There is an anticipated vacancy for the position of SUPV ATTORNEY ADVISOR (GENERAL) of HQ US MARINE CORPS. You will serve as senior legal advisor on military personnel law, providing authoritative analysis and policy guidance to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, the Staff Judge Advocate to the CMC, and other senior military and civilian leaders. You will provide expert legal review and guidance on complex, sensitive personnel issues: including misconduct, promotions, separations, retirements, and general officer matters—ensuring all actions are legally sufficient and comply with DoN policy. You will help manage and supervise JPL operations: planning work, setting performance standards, and mentoring civilian attorneys and active-duty/reserve Judge Advocates (O-3 to O-5). You will draft, prepare formal comments, and provide substantive recommendations on proposed military personnel legislation, regulations, and Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) instructions. You will represent the Marine Corps in coordinating with senior legal and policy officials within the Department of the Navy, Department of Defense, and Department of Justice on military personnel law issues and federal civil litigation. You will provide legal advisory opinions to the Board for Correction of Naval Records (BCNR) and conduct legal sufficiency reviews of enlisted administrative packages subject to HQMC or SECNAV action. You will ensure timely and legally sufficient responses to Congressional inquiries, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and Privacy Act requests related to military personnel matters.
