The trainee will develop skills in one or more areas in the laboratory and receive the necessary training to advance to a technologist role.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelop laboratory skills in the following areas: lymphocyte isolation and purification, Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) molecular typing, DNA technologies including rSSO, RT-PCR, NGS, and TGS, flow cytometry crossmatch, Luminex-based assays, deceased donor on-call training. Genotype families. Prepare reagents accurately. Maintain quality control of reagents and equipment. Operate and troubleshoot liquid handling robotics, flow cytometers, Luminex instruments, liquid nitrogen freezers. Perform computer data entry. Tabulate, analyze, and report issues. Perform meticulous record keeping. Learn to troubleshoot problems when they arise during technical procedures. Learn to teach techniques and underlying principles. Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Biological Science, medical technology, or related field.Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred QualificationsRelated post-undergraduate work experience. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
