Lead, Chime Enterprise Compliance
About the role
We are hiring a Lead, Chime Enterprise Compliance to join our Product Compliance team in support of Chime's business-to-business and business-to-consumer product lines and services. As a Lead, you will serve as a primary compliance subject matter expert and trusted advisor across Chime's enterprise-facing products, working closely with product, engineering, legal, risk, and operations teams to ensure that new and existing products are developed and launched in compliance with applicable consumer financial laws and regulations.
In this lead individual contributor role, you will apply deep regulatory expertise across multiple consumer compliance disciplines to advise on product design, marketing, and feature development, lead cross-functional compliance initiatives, and proactively identify and mitigate regulatory risk across Chime’s B2B and B2C product suite. You will be a go-to compliance resource recognized at the senior executive level and will help set the standard for how compliance integrates with Chime’s product development lifecycle.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $134,000 and up to $175,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Serve as a lead subject matter expert and primary compliance advisor for Chime’s B2B and B2C product lines, including advising product, engineering, legal, and operations teams on compliance requirements for new products, features, and marketing with little to no oversight.
- Demonstrate comprehensive advisory expertise in consumer financial laws and regulations applicable to Chime’s enterprise and consumer-facing products, including but not limited to: Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), Electronic Funds Transfer Act (Regulation E), Truth in Lending Act (Regulation Z), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA/Regulation B), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Truth in Savings Act (Regulation DD), Bank Secrecy Act, and applicable state money transmission laws and regulations.
- Lead significant cross-functional compliance efforts with no oversight, serving as the “go-to” resource for compliance guidance across three or more regulatory areas and three or more business lines within the Chime Enterprise product portfolio.
- Own the review and approval of product collateral, user flows, disclosures, and marketing materials, developing and leading standards for review frameworks and working with legal counsel to resolve nuanced and complex compliance issues for Chime’s enterprise and consumer products.
- Drive compliance readiness for product launches by independently identifying regulatory risks and developing creative, scalable mitigation solutions, including liaising with Chime’s issuing bank partners’ compliance and legal teams to secure timely approvals.
- Lead solutioning efforts with business, risk, and operational teams for compliance issues and findings, overseeing end-to-end remediation and ensuring sustainable risk mitigation outcomes across B2B and B2C product areas.
- Use expert knowledge to drive the implementation, maintenance, and execution of key compliance program components — including policies, procedures, training, testing, and controls — advocating for collaboration with partner teams at Director+ levels in support of corporate strategic priorities.
- Proactively identify compliance risks and process improvement opportunities across the enterprise and consumer product portfolio, applying strategic thinking to independently make decisions with moderate to significant impact on the team and Chime.
- Serve as a sought-out thought partner by business, risk, and operational teams for compliance process enhancements and issue remediation, consistently viewed in the context of overall company strategy.
- Create and lead formal cross-functional networks to advance compliance objectives; communicate and persuade diverse senior and executive stakeholders on complex regulatory matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Chime’s bank and third-party partners, regulators, and cross-functional leaders, and influence priorities and decisions at Director+ levels.
- Play an active role in mentoring compliance team members, recruiting new talent, and structuring and leading initiatives to build a positive and inclusive compliance team culture.
To thrive in this role, you have
- 7+ years of experience in consumer compliance within financial services, fintech, or banking environments, or equivalent experience across multiple consumer compliance disciplines, including product compliance advisory, compliance management system governance, or regulatory risk management.
- Demonstrated in-depth regulatory knowledge across three or more areas with major impact to new product development and deep understanding of three or more consumer financial product lines or business segments (e.g., payments, credit, deposits, lending, B2B financial services).
- 4+ years of experience independently advising on design controls and explaining compliance requirements for new products, new features, and new marketing during the development phase, with little to no oversight.
- Expert skill in developing standards to review and approve product collateral, disclosures, and marketing materials, including working with legal counsel to navigate nuanced and complex regulatory issues for B2B and B2C products.
- Track record of leading cross-functional compliance efforts and influencing priorities and decisions at the Director and senior executive level; recognized internally and by cross-functional teams as a broad compliance subject matter expert.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key regulations including but not limited to: UDAAP, TILA (Reg Z), ECOA (Reg B), FCRA, Electronic Funds Transfers (Reg E), Truth in Savings Act (Reg DD), Bank Secrecy Act, and applicable state money transmission laws and regulations.
- Experience independently leading solutioning and end-to-end remediation efforts for compliance issues and findings in collaboration with business, risk, and operational teams.
- Strong strategic thinking skills; able to apply relevant law and organizational policy to identify, communicate, and resolve compliance risks or issues at a company level, with a view toward overall company strategy.
- Experience owning the implementation, maintenance, and execution of compliance program components — including policies, procedures, controls, and training — and identifying synergies across partner teams to drive risk mitigation and efficiency.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex regulatory information and persuade diverse senior stakeholders and executive audiences.
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), JD, or equivalent designation preferred.
- A commitment to Chime’s mission of delivering financial peace of mind to all members, and a desire to find creative compliance solutions that enable the best product experience for Chime’s enterprise and consumer customers.
