As part of the expansion of our investment platform in Brazil, we are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Carbon Credit Specialist to join our Investment Management team in Rio de Janeiro. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the development of one of Latin America's most promising carbon investment platforms, supporting investments across sustainable agriculture, forestry, timber, nature-based solutions, land restoration, eco-tourism, renewable energy, and broader decarbonization sectors.
The successful candidate will serve as the in-house expert on carbon markets and carbon finance, supporting the origination, evaluation, structuring, execution, and ongoing management of carbon-credit-related investment opportunities. Working closely with investment professionals, project developers, legal advisors, and international investors, the Carbon Credit Specialist will help ensure that carbon-related value creation opportunities are effectively integrated into both debt and equity investment transactions.
The role combines technical carbon market expertise, transaction experience, financial analysis, regulatory understanding, and strategic thinking. It offers significant exposure to both domestic and international carbon markets and the opportunity to contribute to innovative climate-finance solutions with measurable environmental and social impact.
English is the company’s working language but (Brazilian) Portuguese is required in the local context.

Key Responsibilities
Carbon Investment Origination and Evaluation
- Identify and assess carbon-credit-related opportunities within prospective debt and equity investments.
- Evaluate the commercial viability of carbon projects and carbon revenue streams across sectors including forestry, regenerative agriculture, sustainable land use, renewable energy, and other decarbonization activities.
- Analyze project eligibility under major voluntary and compliance carbon market standards and frameworks.
- Support the structuring and execution of investments involving carbon-credit generation, ownership, monetization, and delivery mechanisms.
- Advise investment teams on integrating carbon credit economics into investment underwriting and valuation models.
- Contribute to transaction due diligence processes, including the assessment of carbon-related risks, opportunities, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with legal, tax, technical, and external advisory parties throughout transaction execution.
- Monitor developments in Brazilian and international carbon markets, including voluntary and emerging compliance frameworks.
- Analyze regulatory, legal, tax, and policy developments affecting carbon project development, carbon credit transfers, and international credit commercialization.
- Provide strategic guidance on carbon market trends, pricing dynamics, market integrity considerations, and evolving industry standards.
- Support the monitoring and management of carbon-credit-generating investments throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Track project performance, verification milestones, issuance schedules, and compliance requirements.
- Identify value optimization opportunities and potential risks related to carbon-credit generation and commercialization.
- Prepare high-quality investment memoranda, market analyses, and reporting materials for domestic and international investors.
- Communicate carbon-related investment performance, market developments, and portfolio outcomes to investors and stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in discussions with project developers, registries, certification bodies, consultants, and market participants.
What we expect:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Agriculture, Mathematics, Climate Studies, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in carbon markets, carbon project development, carbon finance, climate finance, environmental markets, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in evaluating, structuring, and executing carbon-credit-related transactions.
- Strong understanding of voluntary carbon markets and emerging compliance market frameworks.
- Knowledge of carbon accounting methodologies, project certification processes, registries, and credit issuance procedures.
- Solid understanding of the regulatory and tax considerations associated with carbon credit generation, transfer, and commercialization.
- Experience supporting investment transactions, due diligence exercises, or project-finance activities.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese.
