Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Dietitian you will be a key player in delivering professional, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy within our state-of-the-art medical center, specifically focusing on Oncology Support Services. You will leverage your expertise in clinical nutrition to assess, plan, and provide crucial nutrition counseling and education to diverse patient populations and community groups. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient outcomes, supporting both acute care and outpatient settings through comprehensive nutritional care tailored to various disease states.
Every day you will engage in nutritional screening using cutting-edge tools, develop and maintain personalized nutrition care plans, and actively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care. You'll be instrumental in promoting health literacy through educational forums, designing patient-specific nutrition therapies, and ensuring meticulous HIPAA-compliant documentation and charting. This dynamic position requires you to apply your knowledge of sanitation, infection control, and food service delivery while consistently upholding exceptional customer service and communication standards.
To be successful in this role, you will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, coupled with a WA Dietitian licensure and demonstrative experience in an acute care setting. Your strong analytical skills, ability to conceptualize complex nutritional needs, and expertise in conducting personal adjustment counseling will be essential. We are looking for a highly adaptable, collaborative professional who excels in establishing client relationships, managing time effectively, and is committed to continuous learning and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Performs nutritional screening on all patients, using Nutrition Assignment tool or appropriate methods per department standards. Develops, maintains, and modifies patient’s nutrition care plan per department standards.
- Collaborates and communicates with the multi-disciplinary team, which may include participating in patient rounds and discharge planning. Promotes nutrition education to all appropriate individuals and groups as applicable to assigned area. Provides educational training and counseling to patients on specific nutrition therapies based on their diagnosis. Develops, organizes and presents classes on nutritional education within VMFH and the community at large. Makes referrals as appropriate.
- May provide nutritional education to department staff to further their knowledge of nutrition, modified diets, and effective delivery of patient meals. Completes nutrition care documentation and charting (e.g., Volume Indicators) in accordance with department-specific standards. Ensures codes are correctly entered.
