Accountabilities:
- Conduct financial process reviews and identify opportunities to improve accounting operations, controls, and reporting practices.
- Develop practical action plans, prioritize initiatives, and provide guidance on implementing financial improvements.
- Support the preparation and review of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, investor reports, tax documentation, and regulatory reports.
- Manage and improve month-end close processes in collaboration with finance leadership, accounting teams, and external service providers.
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes to improve accuracy, timeliness, and cash management.
- Review payroll processes to ensure accurate processing of salaries, benefits, taxes, and other deductions.
- Analyze financial data and deliver reporting insights, including budget versus actual analysis, liquidity forecasts, trends, and key performance indicators.
- Develop financial models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making and evaluate potential business impacts.
- Strengthen accounting systems, internal controls, and operational processes to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
- Support audit, tax, SEC, and regulatory reporting activities by coordinating with external partners and internal stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations on vendor selection, financial tools, policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
- Maintain accurate consulting records, track progress against objectives, and communicate outcomes and recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA certification, MBA, or other advanced degree is preferred.
- 6+ years of experience working specifically as a Controller within an alternative asset firm or family office.
- 4+ years of experience in financial or accounting roles within alternative investments, family offices, or Big 4 accounting environments.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting, financial reporting, management reporting, and accounting operations.
- Extensive experience with cash management, working capital optimization, and financial forecasting.
- Deep understanding of financial instruments, investment structures, asset classes, tax considerations, and financial covenants.
- Experience improving accounting systems, controls, and operational workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, and familiarity with accounting software or financial platforms such as QuickBooks.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with executives, finance teams, and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable recommendations.
