Job Description:
Department and Position Overview:
Reporting to the Group Manager, GPS Employee Protection Programs, the Executive Protection Specialist will work in cooperation with GPS management and GPS teams to provide dedicated support for the safety, security and protection of an assigned group of Senior Bank Executives in support of the Employee Protection Program (EPP).
The Executive Protection Specialist will perform a wide range of duties supporting all aspects of a best-in-class Executive Protection Program. These duties will include but not be limited to; secure driving of Executives, visitor and access management on executive floors, security advances, close protection duties, security patrols, special event security and incident management.
The Executive Protection Specialist will frequently interact with Senior Executives, Executive Assistants, Special Assistants, third party security vendors, external security groups and law enforcement.
The Executive Protection Specialist will work within the boundaries of the GPS EPP, following all applicable guidelines and procedures on a consistent basis.
CUSTOMER:
- Perform surveillance and monitoring activities, utilizing intelligence-led and risk-based approaches to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats.
- Plan, evaluate, and adjust travel and transportation routes to support executive movements while identifying and addressing potential security concerns.
- Provide dedicated executive transportation services, ensuring safe, discreet, and professional support during business activities, events, and travel.
- Protect employees, executives, visitors, sensitive information, and organizational assets through preventative security measures and effective risk management practices.
- Support security operations at corporate facilities and external venues as required.
SHAREHOLDER:
- Prioritize and manage own workload to meet service level requirements for service and productivity.
- Understand and apply operating policies and procedures.
- Follow internal and industry regulations and operating practices in completing all duties.
- Ensure documentation that is prepared / completed is accurate and properly reflects business intentions and is consistent with relevant rules / regulations.
- Report / escalate risk issues or process gaps identified.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Ensure necessary due diligence to support the accuracy of activities.
- Be knowledgeable of and comply with Bank Code of Conduct.

BREADTH & DEPTH:
- Make decision(s) to adjusting security coverage as needed, respond to incidents and act as the first point of contact for escalations.
- Works autonomously within established procedures.
- Requires advanced skills and expertise in the provision of security protection services.
- Monitors and interprets information to identify and solve problems, escalating as appropriate.
- Uses judgement and understanding of process/policy and related laws/regulations when making day-to-day decisions.
- Focus of work spans from daily, weekly to monthly activities.
- Requires full proficiency in a range of processes and procedures through job related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a range of work assignments.
- Act as an Assistant Lead during special events on bank property or at other venues as required.
- Identify operational issues and recommend improvements, may provide support during implementation of new process changes
- Ensure that employees are aware of the impact of their work on the activities of others outside of their function/unit.
- Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high-risk activities as necessary
- Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant Executive Protection experience
- Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required.
- Law enforcement or military experience considered an asset
- Valid G Class driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- Defensive/tactical driving training considered an asset
- Experience operating in a single-operator protection model preferred
- Ability to travel internationally required
