Join our team as Marina Manager and lead the operations of Sydney Boathouse based on Rozelle Bay, Sydney’s largest Dry Stack and Marina facility. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced maritime professional to oversee all aspects of marina management while delivering exceptional service to our boating community.

What this opportunity involves:

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Marina Manager leads the comprehensive marina and dry stack operations, whilst driving revenue growth and strategic business development. This role ensures the safe, efficient marina operations, while maximising revenue potential, maintaining exceptional customer service standards and implementing operational improvements that enhance profitability and market position.

An overview of the role:

  • Lead and supervise the Boathouse team of approx. 15 staff, (casual and permanent) across a 7-day operational week, ensuring consistent focus on deliverable achievement
  • Provision of high-level general marina services for customers of the marina.
  • Actively look to develop the implementation of strategic plans for the marina operation and assets
  • Proactively build occupancy levels through targeted customer engagement
  • Maintain monthly reporting on operational performance, occupancy and enquiry
  • Identify and implement pricing strategies in line with marina enhancements and revenue optimisation
  • Engage with current and prospective customers to understand market demands and identify revenue opportunities
  • Maintain strong relationships with marine industry stakeholders, tenants and service providers
  • Manage the overarching EH&S documentation and compliance for the marina including the overseeing of safety management software reports and quarterly safety audits
  • Manage vessel incident reporting and preventative measures
  • Ensure all OHS accountabilities are maintained through the Operations Manager and team
  • Oversee service contracts and planned maintenance schedules
  • Ensure all service contracts are completed in accordance with Planned Preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure all operation plant is maintained and serviced in a timely manner to meet operational demands
  • Lead annual capital expenditure projects within budget parameters
  • Manage strategic berth allocation
  • Oversee vessel movement ensuring seamless delivery – balancing resources with movement schedule
  • Lead staff development through strategic recruitment, performance and development/training
  • Coordinate personnel onboarding including sourcing, interviewing and induction
  • Ensure staff training is completed and team are aware of safety protocols, maintenance procedures and customer service excellence through the Operations Manager and existing team
  • Obtain pricing for capital projects
  • Prepare and manage budgets, monitor financial performance
  • Collaborate with marketing/creative agency to promote the marina offering and maintain brand stronghold
  • Lead and promote a culture of excellence, safety and customer service
  • Involves weekend shifts

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and supervise Boathouse team (casual and permanent) across a 7-day operational week, ensuring consistent focus on deliverable achievement
  • Coordinate scheduling and workforce planning to maintain optimal staffing levels and service continuity throughout the week
  • Lead strategic recruitment, performance management and succession planning initiatives • Coordinate comprehensive personnel onboarding including sourcing, interviewing and induction programs
  • Ensure staff training completion in safety protocols, maintenance procedures and customer service excellence
  • Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback to maintain accountability and drive results
  • Foster a high-performance culture centered on excellence, safety and exceptional customer service
  • Mentor and develop the Operations Manager, Boathouse team and wider staff to achieve their full potential

Sounds like you? This is what we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated Management experience in similar role – minimum 2 years
  • Marina qualifications – Marina Industries Management Course - desirable
  • Strong knowledge of marina operations, environmental compliance and safety standards
  • Commercial acumen with experience in revenue optimisation and business development
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Flexibility to work the hours needed to meet the demands of the role
  • Ability to manage budgets, assets and projects effectively
  • Deliver a high level of marina customer service, ensuring a premium experience for all guests and vessel owners
