As a Food Safety Analyst, you’re not just ensuring the upkeep and cleanliness of the hotel – you’re spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by delivering memorable experiences that make the stay for every guest.

Here's what you'll do during a typical day:

  • Conduct regular inspections of food preparation, storage, and service areas to ensure compliance with HACCP principles and food safety regulations

  • Monitor and evaluate food handling practices, temperature controls, and sanitation procedures

  • Collect and analyse food and environmental samples for microbiological and chemical contamination testing

  • Investigate foodborne illness complaints, identify root causes and implement preventive measures

  • Develop, update, and maintain food safety policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and documentation

  • Train and educate food handlers and team members on proper hygiene practices, allergen management, and food safety protocols

  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies (NAFDAC, Public Health department etc.) during audits and inspections

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, corrective actions, training sessions, and incident reports

  • Assess supplier and vendor compliance with food safety standards and specifications

  • Stay current with evolving food safety legislation, industry best practices, and emerging food safety risks

  • Participate in food safety audits and certification processes 

  • Respond to food safety emergencies and product recalls in a timely and effective manner.

What It Takes to Make the Stay

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Public Health, Biology or related field

  • Professional food safety certification (e.g., ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 Lead/Internal Auditor’s certification, HACCP certification or equivalent)

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance within the food industry or hospitality industry

  • Strong knowledge of local food safety requirements

  • Proficiency in food safety management systems and risk assessment methodologies

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and training purposes

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Physical ability to conduct inspections in various food production/preparation and service environments.
