DESCRIPTION:
This role is based at our site in Bridgewater, NJ, supporting our Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD). The site maintains ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) certifications, manufacturing reagents and chemicals used for a breadth of applications from life sciences research to drug discovery and manufacturing.
The Distribution Manager will make an impact by driving the outbound shipping processes and teams for the Bridgewater, NJ facility. The position will report to the Sr. Manager of Distribution. The successful candidate for this role is dynamic and possesses a track record as an effective communicator and uses a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
- Manage outbound materials and shipments from third-party logistics storage facilities, vendors, partner sites, and onsite operations.
- Maintain efficient warehouse processes to optimize inventory management and workflow.
- Partake in the corporate Control Substance Program (CSP) coordinator training.
- Take the lead on site regulatory compliance activities and programs focused on DEA materials.
- Ensure domestic and international shipments are following current the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulatory standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize distribution activities, accountability, and ownership.
- Communicate and engage with the team and warehouse leadership through daily management board meetings, ensuring awareness of business activities and understand and address operational challenges that arise.
- Support and maintain accurate metrics, track trends, and implement standard processes.
- Coordinate the development and preparation of reports and other communication materials to keep management informed of the status of shipments, cost, and efficiency.
- Facilitate strong working rapport between Inventory Control, Warehouse teams, Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, Finance, Quality, and Customer Service.
- Partner with the Inventory Control Manager to analyze demand reports to adjust onsite safety stock levels as needed.
- Analyze outbound volume reports to alert inventory control to stage storage locations to improve efficiency.
- Provide leadership and management support to associates, including coaching, performance management development, training, issue resolution, career development.
- Take ownership of safety initiatives, including incident investigations and reporting within the required timeframe. Participate in safety walkthroughs and continuous improvement activities.
- Responsible to meet and maintain team and site performance metrics.
- Develop, implement, and monitor all key functions related to shipping transactions to assure that they are accurate and timely.
- Partner with IT to support systematic enhancements to drive efficiency.
- Create and support SOPs to document and drive standardization of measurement and reporting.
HOW YOU WILL GET HERE:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related area highly preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience with distribution and management required.
- Experience in developing and implementing SOPs highly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Extensive understanding of distribution and logistics principles, procedures, and effective strategies.
- Proficient in using ERP systems and software.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- DEA Regulatory compliance knowledge is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and unquestioned integrity and trust.
- Excellent influence skills to impact change with peer roles and operations leaders throughout the cross functional teams.
- Strong doer who can see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of all partners.
- Proficient business sense and team building skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to confidently present complex information to executive leaders.
- Results oriented, metrics driven leader with a root cause, countermeasure, and continuous improvement approach.
- High level of proficiency with core inventory control skills.
- Advanced proficiency with software such as Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Please note that this role requires working in an office, traditional warehouse, and chemical manufacturing setting.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided, including safety glasses protection, hi-visibility outerwear, and closed-toed footwear.
- Prolonged periods of sitting may be required, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unaided is necessary.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in New Jersey is $90,000.00–$125,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
